The Sr. CAD Drafter is responsible for high quality project design delivery which meets or exceeds the requirements of the contract agreement between Mantis and our clients. Your contributions will include producing plans and details for Architectural and Civil design project with a primary focus in commercial roofing and paved parking areas. The CAD Drafter is tasked with continuous development of an in-house CAD details library and serving as one of Mantis' internal CAD experts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: CAD Drafting Collaborate with Design team to prepare project plan drawings and specific construction details using AutoCAD for commercial building envelope.
Translating ideas, sketches & specifications into complete & accurate working plans. Prepare AutoCAD drawings for building envelope and pavement systems as needed. Develop, compile, and maintain an in-house library of CAD design components for roofs, building envelope, and pavement. Creates and executes project and CAD drawing delivery schedules and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements. Ensures design documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately. Contribute to periodic design reviews to establish and ensure designs are up to Mantis design standards. Support external contract draftsman or junior draftsman as needed and required by increase in project work. Provide guidance and support to these teams to effectively communicate client and Mantis' needs for quality and general design standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 5+ years of architectural CAD drafting experience
5+ years of experience in document preparation for the design and construction of buildings and roofs
Associate's degree in Drafting & Design or related field (or equivalent experience in lieu of degree)
3+ years of AutoCAD LT 2019 experience and/or related certification
Knowledge of construction industry- such as industry standards, materials, codes, contracts, bidding processes etc.
Able to understand, with the potential to compose scopes of work.
Able to understand, with the potential to compose specifications
Able to understand, with the potential to compose, reports and letters.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: BS in Engineering, Construction
Civil Engineering design experience (soil evaluations specific)
MEP Experience
Autodesk Revit experience
Commercial construction experience
ArcGIS experience
SpecLink experience
Historic restoration experience
Specification writing experience
Knowledge in Q.C./Q.A. roofing standards
Active pursuit of continuing education and certification programs (CSI, ACI, ASCE, NSPE, RRC)
COMPETENCIES Proven aptitude to create high quality, professional CAD drawings for construction
Thorough knowledge of procedures involved with multiple phases of construction
Ability to read and understand contract documents, drawings and specifications
Strong attention to detail with focus on improving design outcomes
Well organized and responsible with an aptitude in problem-solving
Ability to work with extended project teams including professional and craft employees, remote employees and subcontractors

$30 - $42 an hour
